Titans coach has great quote about signing Calvin Ridley
The Tennessee Titans stole a star player from one of their division rivals this offseason, and the significance of that is not lost on new head coach Brian Callahan.
Calvin Ridley signed a 4-year, $92 million contract with the Titans back in March. Many expected the veteran wide receiver to remain with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but there were reports that his former team did not come close to matching the offer.
Callahan discussed the Ridley signing during the latest episode of “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” which was released on Tuesday. The first-year head coach had high praise for Ridley and said it made it “a little sweeter” to take Ridley away from Jacksonville.
“I believe in everything he’s about. He’s a pro’s pro and he’s got real talent. He’s one of the better route-runners I’ve been around — really sudden, really fast, really explosive,” Callahan said. “On top of it, he’s a great personality. To have him here and be able to go steal him from a division rival certainly makes it a little sweeter, in that regard.”

Callahan spent the last five seasons in the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals. Titans fans will love to hear that he is already thinking about how to gain the upper hand over his very new division rivals.
Ridley had 76 catches for 1,016 yards and 8 touchdowns with Jacksonville last year. While money was likely the biggest factor in him choosing the Titans, he also cited one other reason.
