Titans release Blaine Gabbert after Tannehill trade
Blaine Gabbert proved to be the odd man out in the Tennessee Titans’ quarterback room after their acquisition of Ryan Tannehill.
The Titans released Gabbert on Friday hours after trading for Tannehill, who will be the new backup to Marcus Mariota.

Gabbert, entering his ninth year in the NFL, got some action for Tennessee last year with Mariota battling various injuries, going 61-for-101 with four touchdowns and four interceptions. The 29-year-old has a middling track record as an NFL quarterback, but the former first-round selection has had just enough success and experience that he’ll likely catch on as a backup somewhere else.
