Ryan Tannehill traded from Dolphins to Titans
The Tennessee Titans have seemingly been committed to Marcus Mariota as their quarterback of the future, which is why it is surprising that they would trade for a player at the position who has been a starter throughout most of his career.
On Friday, the Titans acquired Ryan Tannehill in a trade with the Miami Dolphins.

Tannehill has battled injuries over the past two years and struggled to find consistency with the Dolphins, so it would be a shock if the Titans planned to hand their offense over to him. However, he is a quarterback with plenty of starting experience who is still in his prime, so perhaps Tennessee wants to push Mariota to take his game to the next level.
Like Tannehill, Mariota has been hampered by injuries. He was reportedly at risk of permanently damaging his shoulder at one point last season, so the Titans could also be thinking about having an experienced backup behind him in the event that he goes down.
It was no secret that the Dolphins and new head coach Brian Flores wanted to move on from Tannehill, but they have missed out on every starting-caliber quarterback on the market this offseason.
