In what is yet another ringing endorsement of Geno Smith, Jets coach Todd Bowles said the team has discussed adding a veteran quarterback if they are unable to sign Ryan Fitzpatrick.
With Fitzpatrick unsigned and only Smith, Christian Hackenberg, and Bryce Petty on the roster, Bowles said that the Jets have considered the possibility of another veteran signal-caller.

Of course, it could be a case where the Jets still want Smith to start, but would bring in a veteran backup to push him and take over if he fails. Perhaps this quarterback could be an option for the team.
Nothing will happen until either the Jets or Fitzpatrick blink in their stalemate. The Jets have offered Fitzpatrick a contract that he feels is below market value, and they are reportedly considering moving on. Many fans will be displeased if they do, and it sounds like the players do too, putting the Jets in a rather difficult situation.
