Even at the age of 48, Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady appeared to be considering a return to the NFL.
Brady, who is now a studio analyst for Fox and a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, admitted that he asked the NFL about a comeback, but the league said that they did not “like that idea very much,” according to Alex Sherman and Jessica Golden of CNBC.
“I actually have inquired, and they don’t like that idea very much,” Brady said. “We explored a lot of different things, and I’m very happily retired. Let me just say that, too.”
There are complications if Brady were serious about returning to the NFL, and one league source told CNBC that the former QB would have to get rid of his minority share in the Raiders.
Brady just played in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, but Brady said that game “reconfirmed to me that I’m very happy in my retirement.”
Brady played 23 seasons in the NFL with seven Super Bowl victories, so he was a staple of the league for over two decades since being drafted out of Michigan in 2000.
It’s not surprising to hear that Brady considered returning to the league, especially given his love for the game. However, Brady seems content with where he is now, and it doesn’t seem like it is a realistic possibility, at least for the time being.
