Report: Pro Bowler Trent Williams’ holdout has ‘no end in sight’
Veteran offensive tackle Trent Williams did not report to training camp with the rest of his teammates earlier this week, and it sounds like he could be planning to stay away from the Washington Redskins for quite some time.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Williams’ holdout is expected to be lengthy, as there are a “multitude of issues” that exist between him and the team. One is the way Washington’s medical staff handled his recent health scare, and another is the 31-year-old’s contract.

Williams underwent testing earlier this offseason when a growth was found on his head. There were initially fears that the mass could be malignant, but he got good news from doctors. However, the situation has led to a disagreement between Williams and the team, and it is one that apparently has not been resolved. A report last month claimed Williams wants to be either traded or released.
There has been talk that the issues Williams is having with Washington are part of a larger problem between players and the team’s medical staff, but head coach Jay Gruden recently tried to downplay that. Williams is under contract with the team for two more years and has made the Pro Bowl every season since 2012. With an uncertain quarterback situation heading into the year, Washington needs him more than ever.
