Trent Williams did not show up for mandatory minicamp with the Washington Redskins this week, which led to talk that the nine-time Pro Bowler wants a new contract. While that may be true, it does not sound like a raise would do much to change his mind about his current situation.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Williams is unhappy with the way the Redskins have handled his medical situation and has told the team he wants to be traded or released.
Trent Williams issues with Skins are not financial at all according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation. He's told teammates he has demanded a trade or his release from the club due to their handling of his recent medical situation. Has vowed not to play for them

Williams, 30, underwent testing earlier this offseason when a growth was found on his head. There were initially fears that the mass could be malignant, but he reportedly got good news from doctors.
It’s unclear what has led to Williams’ frustration with the Redskins, but they can’t afford to lose him. He’s under contract with the team for two more years and has made the Pro Bowl every season since 2012. With an uncertain quarterback situation heading into the year, Washington needs Williams more than ever.
