Report: Trent Williams could return to Redskins before Week 2
The relationship between Trent Williams and the Washington Redskins has clearly been in a bad place this offseason, but it does not sound as if it is tarnished beyond repair.
Williams has been holding out this offseason, but he could return to the team in time to play in Week 2. In the latest episode of his “Hail to the Pod” podcast along with co-host Erin Hawksworth, former Redskins defensive back DeAngelo Hall said Williams could be back “sooner rather than later.” Ian Rapoport of NFL Media added that the return may come as soon as next week.
Some great insight here. From what I hear, “sooner rather than later” could even mean next week. A long nightmare of a summer for the #Redskins and their star LT could be coming to a close. https://t.co/lexjGkr8Ck

Hall was teammates with Williams for several seasons in Washington, and he has spoken to him directly about his holdout. Hall recently said Williams told him there is “no chance” he will show up for Week 1, so it is significant that the ex-Redskin now expects Williams back in the near future.
While he has not spoken publicly about it, Williams is said to be at odds with Washington’s medical staff over the way his health scare was handled this offseason. The seven-time Pro Bowler wants to be traded, but the Redskins are reportedly turning away all offers. Williams is scheduled to make nearly $11 million this season and $12.5 million next year, so the seven-time Pro Bowler could simply be planning to show up to avoid forfeiting millions in salary.
