The Seattle Seahawks have stuck with Trevone Boykin despite some legal issues he has had since entering the NFL, but the latest was enough to inspire the team to sever ties with the quarterback.
TMZ reports that police are investigating Boykin for domestic violence after he was accused of breaking his girlfriend Shabrika Bailey’s jaw during a physical altercation last week. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the 24-year-old is expected to be charged with aggravated assault, which is a felony. Boykin and Bailey have been dating for years, according to the report.
Boykin was arrested roughly a year ago for public intoxication and drug possession, and the incident led to a second arrest after it was determined that he had violated the terms of his probation. The former TCU star was on probation after being arrested for getting into a bar fight and striking a police officer while he was still in college in 2015. He was suspended from TCU’s bowl game as a result.
Not long after the report surfaced, the Seahawks announced that they have released Boykin:
