TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested early Thursday morning after he was reportedly involved in a bar fight.
WOAI in San Antonio reports that Boykin was at Pat O’Brien’s when some patrons recognized him and “exchanged words.” Boykin allegedly became upset and took a swing at one of the hecklers, but he missed and made contact with a bar employee instead. Security tried to break up the fight and the group was moved outside.
When police officers arrived, Boykin was allegedly still trying to hit one of the other patrons and accidentally hit an officer. As Boykin’s friends tried to calm him down and say they would take him back to his hotel, police say he started trying to punch officers until he was threatened with a stun gun and taken to the ground.
Boykin was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
TCU is set to take on Oregon in the Alamo Bowl Saturday. It is unclear how Thursday morning’s incident will affect Boykin’s status.
