Trevor Lawrence certainly sounds excited about his new star wideout.
The Jacksonville Jaguars headlined Thursday’s NFL Draft with a big blockbuster trade that resulted in them selecting Travis Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick. Originally slated to pick at No. 5, the Jaguars were set on the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Hunter and did what they had to do in order to land him.
In response to the news, Lawrence posted a three-word reaction to his X page. He threw in the Jaguars’ famous rallying cry in there as well.
“DUUUVAL Let’s go!!!” wrote Lawrence along with an eyeballs emoji.
Hunter is a very welcome addition for the Jaguars, who took a step backwards last season by posting a 4-13 record and finishing 25th in the NFL in total offense. While they already have a WR1 in Brian Thomas Jr, who had 1,282 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie for Jacksonville next year, Hunter will add a lot more juice to their offense. The two-way star should also get an opportunity to contribute for the Jaguars as a cornerback as well.
The former Pro Bowler Lawrence, 25, appeared in just 10 games last season due to a shoulder injury followed by a concussion. He was the subject of an unusual trade rumor earlier this offseason but looks locked in for the long-term with Jacksonville, now flanked by Thomas (21), Hunter (22), running backs Travis Etienne Jr. (26) and Tank Bigsby (23), and new Jaguars head coach Liam Coen.
