Tyreek Hill could be out beyond 2025 after having major surgery

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome knee injury during his team’s Week 4 win over the New York Jets, and there are now questions about whether he will be ready to return at the start of next season.

Hill dislocated his left knee when he was tackled on a third-down catch in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ 27-21 win over the New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla. His leg twisted underneath him as he was tackled by Jets safety Malachi Moore, and it was immediately clear that Hill had suffered a severe injury.

You can see a video of the play here.

Hill had his leg placed in an air cast and was carted off the field. He was then taken to a local hospital to undergo tests, which revealed that he tore several ligaments.

On Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that Hill will undergo “major reconstruction surgery.”

“It is a dislocated knee. It is a torn ACL and more for Tyreek Hill, who somehow was smiling on the cart as he left the field. Mike McDaniel said he was cracking jokes with teammates and showing leadership in that moment,” Pelissero said. “Suffice to say, Tyreek Hill’s 2025 season is over and there are certainly questions about whether or not he will be ready for the start of 2026 and whether he will be on the Dolphins at that point.”

Pelissero also noted that there is no injury guarantee remaining on Hill’s contract, so it is possible the team could move on from the 31-year-old wideout.

The Dolphins improved to 1-3 with their win over the Jets. Hill is Miami’s leading receiver with 21 catches for 265 yards, but his 2025 season is now officially over. His tenure with the team could be as well.
