Video of Drew Brees throwing passes on Instagram has a caveat
Drew Brees impressed many by posting videos on Instagram Saturday showing himself throwing footballs fewer than three weeks after undergoing thumb surgery. While the videos are pretty impressive, they do have a caveat.
Brees told “Saints Tonight” host Mike Nabors that the ball he was throwing with was smaller and lighter than a standard NFL ball.
Brees also told me the video he released this weekend was a smaller and lighter football. He has "marks" set for his comeback and seems pleased with his progress.

Even if it was a smaller and lighter ball, Brees being able to throw at this point is a positive sign in his recovery. But it also shows maybe he still isn’t quite as close to returning as we thought.
Brees also continues to say he will not rush back.
Asked Brees about how the #Saints success would affect his return? "I'm not gonna rush myself back just so I can get back on the field and not be who i need to be" pic.twitter.com/spXj1LBO2i

The Saints have now won three in a row under Teddy Bridgewater, who threw for four touchdowns against the Bucs. Bridgewater is making it easy for Brees to take his time making sure he’s healthy before returning.
