Video shows Nate Hobbs begged police not to arrest him for reckless driving

Nate Hobbs has found himself in trouble with the law on two occasions recently, but he seemed to talk his way out of more trouble during his second incident.

Hobbs, a rookie cornerback for the Las Vegas Raiders, was arrested for DUI in early January. Just two weeks later, he was cited for reckless driving after being caught speeding at 110 mph while weaving and not signaling for lane changes.

On Tuesday, TMZ Sports released a video of the reckless driving incident, which shows Hobbs speeding along the freeway before being pulled over. Hobbs was initially handcuffed and was set to be detained by the highway patrol. However, the Raiders cornerback began begging the officer not to arrest him. He explained that he had been arrested for a DUI two weeks earlier and begged not to be arrested again.

Hobbs said he was speeding because he didn’t want to be late for a football meeting. The officer delivered a harsh message to Hobbs over his reckless driving, saying he was endangering himself and others on the road.

Ultimately, Hobbs was only cited and not arrested, though his car was towed. The officer let Hobbs go because the cornerback had been cooperative.

Hobbs is coming off a solid rookie season for the Raiders. He had 74 tackles, a sack and an interception in 16 games.
