Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah opened up about the team’s potential pursuit of quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Wednesday, and revealed whether the team still might pursue Rodgers.
Adofo-Mensah confirmed that coach Kevin O’Connell spoke with Rodgers about the quarterback possibly joining the Vikings. The GM said that the Vikings essentially had to at least check in on Rodgers, but that the team is “happy with where we are” at the position.
“A player like him is always gonna be in those conversations,” Adofo-Mensah said of Rodgers. “But from our delineations at that time, we’re happy with where we are going forward. Obviously, the caliber of player [he is], it had to be part of our conversations.

“Right now … We’re happy with our [quarterback] room.”

Adofo-Mensah added that JJ McCarthy has “met the bar” in everything they have asked of him dating back to the pre-draft process in 2024.
The Vikings were Rodgers’ clear preference in free agency, but they are not as interested in him as he was in them. It is possible they will turn back to Rodgers later in the offseason if he is still available and the team has doubts about McCarthy, but right now, the team’s public stance on McCarthy is a bullish one.
Rodgers is likely to join the Pittsburgh Steelers at this point. However, there is still another path he could take if the Steelers are not to his liking.
