According to a police report obtained by The Statesman, an officer smelled alcohol and noticed that Young’s speech was slurred.
The arresting officer wrote in an arrest affidavit that Young smelled strongly of alcohol. He also wrote that Young’s balance was swaying and unsure and that he showed the same symptoms of intoxication while walking. Young was not cooperative with the officer but remained polite, the affidavit said.
Young’s speech was slurred and thick-tongued and he mumbled, the affidavit said.

The officer said Young’s clothing were mussed and his eyes were glassy. Young laughed at one point, which the officer found odd, the affidavit said.
Young was pulled over after he took 10 seconds to proceed through a green light and an officer noticed his vehicle was swerving. He was released on $2,000 bail.
Despite his NFL career being a major disappointment, Young was seemingly doing quite well. He was offered a job at Texas University a while back and later said he was planning to work out at the NFL Veteran Combine, though nothing ever came of that. Young ended up accepting the position as “community engagement officer” at Texas and was reportedly making a salary of $100,000.
Young acknowledged that his NFL career was over more than a year ago when he made these comments, but he later expressed a desire to give it another shot. If the reports about him being arrested for DWI are true, that should officially put an end to the 32-year-old’s playing career.
