Tony Finau jokes about ankle injury, shares photos of the damage
Tony Finau showed a ton of poise by finishing tied for 10th place in his first ever Masters appearance. The performance would have been impressive enough by himself, but when you consider the ankle injury Finau was dealing with it is almost legendary.
Finau suffered a freak injury during the Masters Par-3 contest on Wednesday when he dislocated his ankle while celebrating a hole-in-one. If you haven’t seen the video and have a weak stomach, you probably won’t want to watch it:

The injury was exactly as it seemed, as Finau later revealed that he suffered a dislocated ankle and popped it back into place. He then went out and fired a 4-under 68 in the first round of the Masters the next morning, despite barely being able to put any weight on his left foot. Finau joked about the injury after he finished 7-under for the tournament, but some photos he shared gave us a glimpse of how serious it was.
What a week ???? Top 10 in my @TheMasters debut! It was an eventful week!

How the hell did Tony Finau even play at Augusta, let alone finish in the top 10, with an ankle like this? Massive respect pic.twitter.com/SgIPzVMMaN

Finau isn’t the first pro athlete we’ve seen suffer a serious ankle injury while celebrating, but the way he performed given the circumstances is nothing short of remarkable.
