Wyndham Clark made headlines last week for having an outburst at a second consecutive major championship, and the PGA Tour golfer has once again issued an apology.

Clark missed the cut at the 2025 U.S. Open last week, which was held at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa. The 2023 U.S. Open winner shot 8-over par through the first two rounds and ended up one shot off of the cut line.

After Clark failed to make it to the weekend, there were some reports that he caused damage with a tantrum inside the locker room. A photo that made the rounds on social media showed the doors of at least two lockers at Oakmont that were supposedly smashed in by Clark.

Clark is playing in The Travelers Championship this week at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. He was asked on Thursday about his U.S. Open locker room tantrum, and he called it “a mistake that I deeply regret.”

“I’ve had a lot of highs and lows in my career, especially this year some lows. I made a mistake that I deeply regret and I’m very sorry for what happened,” Clark said. “But I’d also like to move on, not only for myself but for Oakmont, for the USGA, and kind of focus on the rest of this year.”

Wyndham Clark spoke on the locker room situation at Oakmont after an opening 64 at Travelers:

The U.S. Open is widely known for being the most challenging test in golf, and this year’s tournament was no exception. Winner J.J. Spaun finished at -1 and was the only player who was under par after 72 holes.

Some golfers defended Clark for his actions and said they are more common than you would think. Part of the issue for Clark was that he also threw a club in anger during the PGA Championship last month, so that was still fresh on everyone’s mind.

The 31-year-old Clark has three wins on the PGA Tour.
