Caroline Wozniacki confirmed the long reported truth about her breakup with Rory McIlroy: it came in the form of a phone call from her ex-boyfriend and left her in shock.
Woz talked about her May breakup with McIlroy in an interview with Yahoo Sports’ Graham Bensinger.
“Oh, I was shocked,” Wozniacki said of the phone call breakup. “I thought at least I would get a face-to-face or something, but there was nothing. It was just a phone call and I did not hear from him again. It was kind of like that. Just kind of ended. I think I was just in a shocked phase after that.”

Despite the public embarrassment from the breakup — which came after the two had already sent out wedding invitations — Wozniacki doesn’t appear to have any regrets.
“That’s a chapter in my life I’ve learned a lot from it,” Wozniacki told Bensinger. “I definitely learned a lot about myself, about relationships. I’ve learned you have to take life as it goes. … I’ve moved on.”

And for the remaining single men who have interest in her, Wozniacki shared what she looks for in a guy.
“I look for someone who’s honest, who’s fun to be around, who doesn’t take himself too seriously.”
She also got in a little zinger on Rory.
“I would like a taller guy so I can wear my heels.”
Ouch. That’s the second time now that Woz has taken a shot at Rory’s height since their breakup. I think she’s hit her max.
Though painful, the breakup was probably for the best. Both athletes have been performing extremely well since the relationship ended.
