Eric Decker, Jessie James want to show that reality TV couples can work

Eric-Decker-Jessie-JamesDenver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker and his wife, country singer Jessie James, have a reality show airing later this summer on the E! Network called “Eric & Jessie: Game On.” When most of us think of reality television shows about couples, we think of pairings like Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian, Hank Baskett and Kendra Wilkinson, and Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian.

We also think of relationship complications and drama when we think of reality TV, but Decker and James are hoping to prove that does not always have to be the case.

“We had a lot of input into this project before we agreed to it,” Decker told the Denver Post. “It’s structured. We didn’t want people following us around all day just waiting for drama. Jess had a lot of say. She’s feisty. I love that about her. We wanted to show that quote unquote celebrity couples can work. We wanted to give an introduction to what we’re about and how it’s not going to affect football.”

Decker has stressed that the show has not distracted him from football, as all of the filming was been done on his personal time and had nothing to do with the Broncos. He said agreeing to the show is a way to show people that he has a life outside of football. James added that it’s to showcase their love for one another.

“This isn’t for anything except we’re madly in love with each other,” James told the Denver Post. “We are so in love. And I don’t feel like a lot of people get to be in love like this. This is like a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing to find love like this. I feel like so many women or so many guys settle for something that’s not special. People are getting divorced and there’s so much going on. And I feel like we’re the example of real love. And we want to share that with people that it’s out there. We’re normal people just like everyone else doing down-to-earth stuff, and we wanted to share that.”

Aww, isn’t that special? I don’t know if I’d call posting videos like this normal stuff, but I’m rooting for the happy couple. Hopefully Decker doesn’t put himself in a position where he has to go Lamar Odom on some paparazzi.
