The Boston Bruins were down a defenseman after Matt Grzelcyk left Wednesday night’s Stanley Cup Final game with an injury. The injury was bad enough that Grzelcyk went to the hospital.
Grzelcyk was hit by Oskar Sundqvist against the boards towards the end of the first period of the St. Louis Blues’ 3-2 overtime win in Game 2.

Grzelcyk left the game and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy shared after the game that Grzelcyk was at the hospital for observation but did not provide any updates on his status.
Sundqvist was only given a two-minute minor penalty for the hit. Sportsnet’s John Shannon says the hit will be reviewed by the league’s player safety department.
