Bruins do not touch Prince of Wales Trophy after sweeping Hurricanes
Is it a curse or not? The Boston Bruins do not want to test it.
The Bruins advanced to the Stanley Cup Final by sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes, winning Game 4 4-0 on Thursday night at PNC Arena. As the champions of the Eastern Conference, the Bruins were presented with the Prince of Wales Trophy. However, they declined to touch it.

There is a superstition that players should not touch the trophy because it is not the ultimate prize; the Stanley Cup is. Alex Ovechkin didn’t bother to follow the superstition last year and won it all. Sidney Crosby touched it the prior two years and the Penguins won it all.
The Bruins are 1-1 in the Stanley Cup Final when they have touched the trophy:

They’re looking to make it 2-1. They await the winner of the Sharks-Blues series, which San Jose leads 2-1 thanks to a controversial missed call.
