There has been some debate over the hit by Evgeni Malkin on TJ Oshie during Wednesday night’s Washington Capitals-Pittsburgh Penguins game, but there’s no doubt about where Todd Reirden stands on it.
The Washington Capitals head coach stated clearly after his team’s 2-1 win that Malkin’s hit on Oshie is the kind the league is trying to get rid of it.
Capitals coach Todd Reirden on Evgeni Malkin's hit on T.J. Oshie: "Those are things we're trying to remove from the game. Of all teams, we know that from dealing with it on the other end."

Reirden also alluded to Tom Wilson, who is suspended 20 games for a preseason hit against the Blues.
Oshie, who scored the winning goal, said he didn’t care what happened to Malkin.
T.J. Oshie: “My face is messed up but I’m feeling pretty good.”
On Malkin: “I don’t care what happens to him.”#Capitals

Regardless of how Oshie feels, there are others within the Caps who would like to see some punishment for Malkin.
