Look: Avs’ JT Compher smashed trash can after Game 5 loss
The Colorado Avalanche had a chance to steal Game 5 away from the San Jose Sharks on the road Saturday night, but they came up just short in a frustrating 2-1 loss. The reaction of Colorado’s JT Compher illustrated just how frustrating it was.
Compher took an angry swipe at a steel trash can on his way to the locker room after the game, and he left a sizable dent in it.

The Avalanche return home for Game 6 on Monday night with a chance to force a winner-take-all Game 7, so they are hardly out of it. However, Compher may have been as bothered by his own performance in the series as he was with the 2-1 loss. After tallying three goals and an assist in a series win that went five games against the Calgary Flames last round, he does not have a point in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Fortunately, it does not appear that Compher injured himself by losing his temper. If he did, it certainly would not have been the first time we have seen a pro athlete do something like that.
