Martin St. Louis is a winger for the Lightning and one of the best players in the NHL. He won the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship for the second year in a row, but the problem is the two ditzes presenting the award butchered the pronunciation of his name:
Yup, that’s what happens when you have two Real Housewives of Beverly Hills handing out the award. Deadspin says the women in question are Camille Grammer—Kelsey’s ex—and Adrienne Maloof, the sister of the Maloof brothers who own the Sacramento Kings. And in case you’re wondering what they got wrong, St. Louis’ name is pronounced “MarTAN San Loo EEE.” I’ve screwed up plenty of pronunciations in my day, but at least I know that one. I do suppose the one redeeming factor is that at least his trophy wasn’t broken.
