Sidney Crosby went head-first into boards and concussion spotters didn’t pull him
The NHL’s concussion spotters somehow did not act despite seeing Sidney Crosby go head-first into the boards during Game 6 of the Pittsburgh Penguins-Washington Capitals series on Monday night.
Crosby missed Game 4 of the series with a concussion after taking a hit to the head from Matt Niskanen in Game 3, though he returned for Game 5 and was playing in Game 6. In the first period, he seemed to trip around the Washington net and tumbled head-first into the boards:

Crosby was slow to get up yet the concussion spotters did not order him to be removed so he could be checked for a concussion.
The blow to the head alone should have been enough to require a check of Crosby’s health. When you compound it with his existing concussion recovery, there should have been a heightened sensitivity to the issue.
