Game 7 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals was played in Tampa, but the Washington Capitals’ home arena still had a raucous atmosphere.
The Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning met on Wednesday in a winner-take-all game for a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. Late in the first period, Alexander Ovechkin gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead. Back in Washington at Capital One Arena, fans watching the game went crazy.

The Capitals have one Stanley Cup Finals appearance in their franchise history, in 1998. The Lightning have made two trips to the finals, winning it all in 2004. With such a long absence, you can understand why Caps fans would be so pumped.
