Jim Rome’s racehorse Shared Belief dies after colic surgery

Shared Belief

Shared Belief, the champion racehorse owned by sports media personality Jim Rome, died on Wednesday, Rome’s racing group announced.

Shared Belief was a four-year-old gelding who had enjoyed tremendous success in the racing world. The gelding won his first eight races before losing at the Breeders Cup last year. He had posted a victory over 2014 Horse of the Year California Chrome this year in the San Antonio Stakes and won 10 races in his career.

Rome’s Jungle Racing group announced the sad news on Facebook. They say Shared Belief displayed signs of colic — an abdominal pain issue in horses — and sent him to UC Davis for an operation. Sadly, he did not make it.
