Aly Raisman planning to compete at Tokyo Olympics

Aly Raisman

Aly Raisman has plans to continue building upon her storied Olympic career by competing at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.

At 22, Raisman is considered old for a gymnast, but her three-medal performance in Rio has her convinced that she should continue her career. That’s what Raisman was saying at the end of the Rio Games, and that line of thinking continues.

During an interview with T.D. Jakes that will air in full on Wednesday on OWN, Raisman said she plans to compete in Tokyo.

“Yes, that’s the goal right now. I’m going to take a break first, but then I’m going to come back and train,” said Raisman.

Raisman won gold in the team and silver in the all-around and floor exercise at Rio. She actually has gotten even better in her sport but is just overshadowed by teammate Simone Biles, whom many consider to be the greatest gymnast ever. So it makes sense that Raisman wants to continue adding to her trophy case four years from now.
