French gymnast Samir Ait Said suffered a horrific leg injury in Day One of competition at the Rio Olympic Games on Saturday.
Ait Said was attempting to stick a vault landing during the men’s gymnastics qualification session but fell awkwardly on his left leg, breaking it.
A word of warning to proceed with extreme caution because the injury is rather gruesome.

The 26-year-old Ait Said, who won the gold medal on rings at the 2013 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Moscow, had to be carried off the floor on a stretcher. The initial diagnosis was an open fracture to Ait Said’s left tibia, meaning that his Olympics are, in all likelihood, over, per Andrea Joyce of NBC Sports.
