Simone Biles was in attendance for the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, and she was asked the big question about the 2028 Olympics. Unfortunately, Biles still is not ready to make an announcement about the matter.
Biles was interviewed by NBC and said she is undecided about competing in the 2028 Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles, Calif.
“I have not decided,” Biles said when asked if she would compete in the 2028 Summer Games. “Obviously, since it is a home Olympics, it is such an honor to compete on home soil with the fans and everything. But as of now, we’re just going to take some time off, focus on my mental and my physical health, and then we’ll see. If anything, I’ll definitely be there supporting Team USA. But I just don’t know right now if it’s on the floor or in the stands.”
Biles is 28 and regarded as one of the best gymnasts ever. She has competed in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games and has taken home 7 gold medals, two silvers and two bronzes. She has also won 30 World Championship medals.
Following a disappointing showing at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo, Biles dominated the 2024 Olympics in Paris. She won gold medals in the team, all-around and vault events, while capturing silver in the floor exercise.
Though she will be 31 years old at the time of the 2028 Olympics, if anyone can defy aging in gymnastics, it’s Biles.
