NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 17 – Doc’s Last Supper

Doc Brown has been rocking and rolling over his past several weeks, racking up three double-digit win totals in the last four weeks. As Del mentioned in his picks, the challenge in Week 17 is figuring out which teams are still motivated and which ones are packing it in. The Packers, for instance, have nothing to play for. But Doc believes Matt Flynn is still a capable quarterback, so he’s picking them to win. Here are Doc’s picks for Week 17, with analysis of the Top 3 selections below.

The 49ers still are playing for the second seed in the NFC playoffs, so they have to make sure they get this win. Their defense has been dominant and it should do just fine against the League’s worst offense. Sam Bradford is doubtful meaning Kellen Clemens will likely make his second straight start. He might not be as dreadful as he was last week, but the Doc doesn’t think he’ll be much better.

The Patriots are also trying to lock up homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. With the AFC’s top seed at stake, the Doc expects them to go pedal to the medal against the Bills. They’ll also be motivated after losing earlier in the season at Buffalo when Tom Brady was picked off four times. Doc also expects a 35+ point output from the Pats.

Despite disappointing this season, the Eagles have been on a mission lately. They’ve won their past three games by a large margin, and they seem determined to finish the season on a positive note. Now that they’re finally playing the way Doc expected them to, they should prove that they’re miles ahead of the Redskins. We know they are.
