NFL picks Week 8 against the spread – Doc’s picks

Last week was absolutely dreadful for Doc Brown. A total week to forget. 0-3 on the Top 3 picks, and the rest didn’t do much better. But that means we’re primed for a turnaround this week.

There’s a game in London with weather being a concern. Mike Vick is likely in at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jason Campbell is getting the start for the Cleveland Browns. Christian Ponder is back in the saddle for the Minnesota Vikings. Doc and Del’s Week 8 picks are below, with analysis of the top three picks after the chart.

NFL picks week 8

The New England Patriots’ offense hasn’t looked sharp for a few weeks now, but this is the week Doc thinks they get on track. Rob Gronkowski is back healthy and will make a huge impact on the offense. Just wait til he gets going with a couple of touchdown catches. The Doc is banking on the Gronk in this one and expecting an easy win for New England.

Jason Campbell draws a tough start against Kansas City. The Chiefs failed to cover last weekend and barely got past the Houston Texans, whose rookie Case Keenum looked pretty good. Campbell likely will have a much tougher time. The guy is a sitting duck in the pocket and really just good enough to not lose games too badly for you. We’re not expecting much out of him.

Cincinnati has been on a roll winning three in a row, including two on the road. They look sharp and their defense has impressed. The Jets have been much better than most have expected, but they’re also pretty erratic. Remember their stinkers at Tennessee and at home against Pittsburgh? Coming off a huge win against the Patriots last weekend, the Doc thinks they’ll be spent and doomed for a down game. Bengals should cover.
