Doc Brown is going strong with his NFL picks. Through a quarter of the season, the marks have been very respectable, and the “Top 3,” which have morphed into the “preferred picks,” have been performing extremely well at an 80 percent clip. Doc looks to continue his success in Week 5.
Below are the picks for the week with some analysis.

Doc’s two locks for this week have one thing in common: they both played on Monday night. The Patriots were embarrassed by the Chiefs and have faced tons of criticism and questions. Doc believes they will respond well and come out with a big win this week over the Bengals. They’ll also have their extra wide receivers active for the game, which should help. And you know they’re going to make a lot of changes to their passing game finally.
The Chiefs have to be elated from their Monday night win and won’t have the same fire and motivation in Week 5. The Niners, on the other hand, still have not put it all together this season. They had a nice comeback win over the Eagles, but they still haven’t dominated on both ends yet. Doc Brown thinks this is the week that they will. It should help that the Chiefs will be flat after Monday’s domination.
