Week 10 expert NFL Picks against the spread – Doc’s locks
Doc Brown has been having some success lately on the picks. He’s coming off a 9-4 week, 8-5 week and 9-5 week on the picks in Weeks 9-7, respectively. That was enough to get his season totals back to a respectable level, although the locks sure could use a lot of work. The aim is to turn that around in Week 10 while continuing the success on the rest of the picks.
On with the selections!
(ATS = Against the Spread, SU = Straight Up)
The Packers have lost two games in a row to very tough opponents. There’s nothing wrong with them other than they faced difficult competition in the middle of the season on the road. Their schedule did them no favors. But that just means they’ll be ticked and highly motivated to beat the snot out of the Lions on Sunday. All that talk about what’s wrong with Aaron Rodgers? Yeah, he’s about to put up 400 yards and 4 touchdowns to make you wish you had never questioned him. And the Lions are going in the opposite direction. They’ve made several changes with the coaching staff and front office, and there is talk about them getting rid of Calvin Johnson or Matt Stafford. The organization is a mess and it’s a lost season. Green Bay will take no mercy.
If there are two things Doc Brown knows about the NFL, it’s that Dan Snyder is the worst owner in the league, and you don’t go against Andy Reid after a bye week. Reid’s Eagles were some legendary number like 13-1 after bye weeks during his time in Philly. He did lose in his first game after a bye in his first year with the Chiefs — to the Super Bowl-bound Broncos that year — but he reclaimed his bye week supremacy crown last year with a road win over the Chargers. KC has actually looked much better of late with consecutive wins, including a 45-10 throttling of the Lions. Clearly they haven’t packed it in yet. When you combine that with Reid’s magic scouting his own team and opponents with the extra week, it’s a good formula for success.
