Cristiano Ronaldo was in a foul mood and displayed some poor sportsmanship after Portugal’s draw with Iceland in the Euro 2016 on Tuesday.
Iceland, playing in its first European Championship, stunned everyone by playing Portugal to a 1-1 draw in their Group F match. After the contest, Ronaldo was so upset that he walked off the pitch without shaking hands:
Ronaldo just hates being part of a team huh…. Too good to shake hands with #ISL players too #huffychild pic.twitter.com/17Tt9NtcYZ

His frustration spilled into his postgame comments when he ripped Iceland for celebrating.
“I thought they’d won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end, it was unbelievable,” Ronaldo said via The Mirror.
“When they don’t try to play and just defend, defend, defend this in my opinion shows a small mentality and are not going to do anything in the competition.”
He also criticized Iceland for not trying to score and only playing defense.
Cristiano Ronaldo: "Iceland only tried to defend… they had two chances and then did not try to score."

Iceland’s strategy obviously worked, because they get a point for the draw. The comments were clearly made out of frustration from Ronaldo, which must have mounted during the game and boiled over when he spoke with reporters. Rather than congratulating Iceland and saying he’s not concerned about Portugal’s future, he called them small, which actually makes him the smaller person.
