It’s turning out to be a big summer for Amare Stoudemire. Eager to change the conversation from his whole fire extinguisher mistake, the Knicks forward announced a few attention-grabbing items in the last month.
Three weeks ago he announced he was going to college, and over the weekend he revealed he’s engaged after proposing in Paris to the mother of his three children.
“I have been planning my proposal for a while, and [Paris] … seemed like a perfect place,” Stoudemire told the New York Post’s Page Six. “I am so happy she said yes, and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife.”
I can’t think of anything more genuine and romantic than having a photographer standing by to take a picture of your engagement and sending it around to all the gossip mags. The engagement clearly is a PR thing; you really think athletes willingly get into Page Six unless it’s planned?
