Luke Voit says he got grief from Yankees for pimping triple
Luke Voit delivered arguably the biggest hit of the night for the New York Yankees, and he took some grief for it.
Voit hit a 2-run triple off Oakland A’s star reliever Blake Treinen in the bottom of the sixth inning of Wednesday night’s AL Wild Card Game. Voit could be seen pimping the hit off the bat, thinking he had knocked one out of the park. He took a few hops up the line before running:

The ball hit off the right field wall instead, staying in the park. Voit ended up making it to third for his first career triple, and then he scored on a sac fly, so it all worked out. But Voit says he heard from his team about it.
“I thought I hit a home run and got in trouble in the dugout for that, but hey, I got my first triple out of it,” Voit said in a postgame interview with TBS.
Though the Yankees want to see everyone running hard out of the box, they’ll take what Voit gave them. And unless you crush a ball like Giancarlo Stanton did, it’s probably best to assume you haven’t hit a home run.
