No Marlins players show up to charity event despite advertisement

Marlins event

The Miami Marlins continue to disappoint their fans both on and off the field.

The Marlins held a “Fish ‘N Chips Casino Party” event on Thursday evening after the team played a day game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and not one player from the team showed up despite advertisements saying they would.

The ad for the event reads as follows (and is also seen in a screenshot above):

Community Foundation Events Fish ‘N Chips Casino Party
Fish ‘N Chips Casino Party – DOUBLE OR NOTHING

Please join the Marlins Foundation for an evening of fun and stakes at the Craps, Blackjacks, Roulette, Poker and Domino tables as you rub elbows with your favorite Marlins players, coaches and alumni. Enjoy a night filled with hors d’oeuvres, open bars, dancing and entertainment, with the breathtaking view of downtown Miami.

It was a big-money event as they charged $100 for individuals and $175 for couples. You figure people were paying that kind of money with the hope of meeting a guy like Giancarlo Stanton or Dee Gordon, but they had no such luck.

Even the first words of the team’s tweet advertising the event said “meet your favorite players.”

Those fans probably feel about the same way I did when I went to a Wu Tang concert at the House of Blues and the biggest name guy to show up was Masta Killa. They have a good case to make for a refund. The Marlins definitely owe the fans one and should make it up to them.

Between making their GM the new manager and the team having a rain delay because of an error reading an app, the Marlins are showing they just don’t have things together.
