White Sox pick Courtney Hawkins does backflip in loafers after being drafted (Video)

Courtney Hawkins realized a lifelong dream when he was drafted in the first round by the White Sox on Monday, and he celebrated like any typical draft pick would: by doing a backflip.

Hawkins told MLB Network reporter Sam Ryan that he was so excited about being drafted that he could do a backflip. She asked him to do one, and he complied despite wearing a dress shirt, tie, and dress shoes.

Hawkins is an outfielder and was expected to go ninth or tenth, so the White Sox probably feel like they got a steal by taking him 13th overall. The Carroll High (Texas) product has to choose between attending the University of Texas on scholarship or signing with the White Sox. We’re guessing he takes the millions.
