Yu Darvish says he shook off Jonathan Lucroy on three home runs

yu-darvish-2016

Jonathan Lucroy was perhaps the best acquisition to emerge from this year’s trade deadline, but he obviously still has some chemistry to build with his new Texas Rangers teammates.

Rangers righty Yu Darvish worked with Lucroy for the first time on Tuesday night in a 5-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Darvish allowed three solo home runs in the outing and admitted after the game that he shook off Lucroy’s pitch calls on all three, per Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The good news for the Rangers is that they still have ample time for Lucroy to get settled in. At the moment, they hold a 5.5 game lead atop the AL West with 55 games left to play. The 30-year-old Lucroy, who was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, is one of the top signal callers in baseball, so it’s pretty scary to think what might happen once he fully earns the trust of the Rangers pitching staff.
