The 2025 MLB trade deadline has passed, and Mike Trout remains a member of the Los Angeles Angels.
Despite rumors that the all-time great could be moved ahead of Monday’s deadline, Trout continues to don Halos colors. That said, the Angels were still among the busiest teams heading into the cutoff date.
Apparently, the three-time American League Most Valuable Player had checked in on general manager John Mozeliak and the Angels’ trade room before the deadline, leading to speculation that he had somewhat influenced the moves the club made.
Trout recently explained the nature of his visit.
“People were blowing it up,” Trout said, via Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. “It wasn’t what everybody’s saying. Basically, just going over everything.
It wasn’t like I was telling him, ‘Oh, trade this guy, trade that guy.’ It was basically just a plan. It was just Mo trying to build a relationship with me in the couple weeks he’s been here. Just being transparent. I think that’s the biggest thing.”
Among the top trades Los Angeles pulled off involved Jose Soriano (to the Toronto Blue Jays) and Jo Adell (to the Cleveland Guardians). Both players are now in better positions to make the playoffs than the Angels, but Trout is satisfied continuing his career with the franchise.
“Nah, it hasn’t changed anything,” Trout said about his view of LA after its trade deadline moves. “But we’re not where we want to be. Doing what we did, I think helps our future. And we’ll see where it goes.”
