Derrick Rose was ‘praying’ for woman who accused him of rape
Derrick Rose may be happy that he was cleared of all charges in his rape case, but that does not mean he doesn’t have sympathy for the woman who accused him and his friends of the offense.
Rose has rejoined the New York Knicks for the first time in a few weeks since he was in Los Angeles for the civil trial. He spoke with reporters on Saturday and expressed sympathy towards the woman involved in the case.
“(I feel a) little bit (vindicated) but at the same time there was another person that was involved in this so if anything I’ve just been praying for myself and praying for her because the issue is very big in the States and everywhere,” Rose said via the New York Daily News. “So just praying for everyone that was involved and knowing that all this is out of my control. The only thing I could work on is being a better person, being a better dad, brother, cousin, uncle, being the best I could be so I could help others.”
Rose says his big regrets with the case were putting himself in the situation to begin with, and missing his son’s birthday party.
The former NBA MVP scrimmaged with his teammates on Thursday and says he worked out while in LA for the trial. He gets ready to open the season on Tuesday when the Knicks visit the Cavaliers.
