Joel Embiid’s list of rivals may be expanding further westward.
In an appearance Friday on ESPN’s “The Jump,” the Philadelphia 76ers center threw some shade at the Phoenix Suns, particularly rookie big man Deandre Ayton. Embiid was shown a picture of Ayton during an on-air segment and responded that the 20-year-old was “about to get his a– kicked this year.”
Soon after, Suns guard Devin Booker took an opportunity to respond, quote tweeting the clip and writing simply, “Sounds good.”
Trash talk is nothing new for the All-Star Embiid, as it has become an integral part of his brand both on and off the court. This is not the first time that he has gone after Ayton either. It looks like the Sixers-Suns rivalry could be heating up in a way that we haven’t seen since the days of Charles Barkley.
