Joel Embiid hears ‘MVP’ chants during NBA debut
It finally happened.
Nearly two and a half years after he was drafted No. 3 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid finally made his NBA debut. And it really could not have gone much better.
Embiid showed some beautiful post moves as well as some outside range during his first career game. Sixers fans were so pleased to see him out there that they began “MVP” chants for Embiid when the Kansas product was at the free throw line:

Later in the game, Sixers fans chanted “Trust the Process” when Embiid was at the free throw line. “Trust the Process” is a nod to former Sixers GM Ed Hinkie, who urged fans to trust the rebuilding process as the team slogged through three straight sub-20 win seasons.
In respect to that, Embiid has asked for his nickname to be “The Process.”
