Kevin Love dislocated shoulder on ‘bush-league’ Kelly Olynyk play

Kevin-Love-shoulder-injury

After the Cleveland Cavaliers completed a sweep of the Boston Celtics on Sunday, Kevin Love revealed that he suffered a dislocated shoulder during the game. He felt it could have been avoided without dirty play from Celtics center Kelly Olynyk.

Love told reporters he felt Olynyk grabbed his arm intentionally and that the league should discipline him for it.

“I thought it was a bush-league play,” he said, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com. “I have no doubt in my mind that he did it on purpose. That’s just not a basketball play. … The league will take a look at it and it better be swift and just.”

Love was wearing a sling. He said his shoulder popped out during the game but was put back into place in the locker room. He and Olynyk were fighting for a loose ball when the injury occurred. You can watch the play here.

While the Cavs finished off the Celtics with a relatively easy victory, it did not come without a cost. It would not be a surprise if Love missed some time, and J.R. Smith will likely be suspended after he was ejected for nailing Jae Crowder in the face. Cleveland could be shorthanded to begin the next round.
