Lou Williams, Nearly Robbed, Bought Thief McDonald’s

Earlier Monday, we shared the story of Lou Williams. The 76ers guard tweeted over the holiday weekend that he was nearly robbed but the gunman spared him because of all the work he does for the community. Williams deleted the tweet, but he elaborated on the story.

“A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community,” Williams told reporters. “He’s a Lou Williams fan, so he didn’t rob me.”

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Williams said he was driving in his car when the man approached, knocked on the driver’s window and had a gun drawn.

“There’s crime everywhere,” said Williams. “I was debating whether to pull off to help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before i could really say much. I treated him to McDonald’s.”

What a maddening turn of events, huh? I’m just wondering what kind of mugger is open to negotiations. Can you really reason with them? And that’s a pretty good solution too — how bout you buy me a burger from the golden arches and we’ll call it a day, deal? Love it. I guess this is the ultimate example of street cred.
