Marreese Speights on Kendrick Perkins: ‘His game is terrible’
Golden State Warriors forward Marreese Speights had one of the best games of his career off the bench on Sunday. Speights scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds in his team’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. He did all that damage despite playing just 25 minutes.
Warriors fans can thank Kendrick Perkins for that.
After the game, Speights told reporters that Perkins is a “tough guy” who talks too much.
“It’s just that Perk always has something to say,” Speights said, per Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman. “He thinks he’s a tough guy, but at the end of the day, his game is terrible. He always has something to say to me, every time we play against each other.”
“It always gets me going. So shoutout to Perkins for helping me get this game.”
Speights was animated throughout the night and was even seen jawing at Kevin Durant — who was on the bench with an injury — during a timeout in the second quarter.
Plenty of players in the NBA don’t get along with Perkins. As someone who watched him play with the Boston Celtics for years, I know exactly what Speights was referring to.
