Louisville Forward Chane Behanan Says Cards Will Go Undefeated (Video)

With the exception of Rex Ryan and maybe a few others, most coaches don’t enjoy making guarantees or hearing their players make them.  Guaranteeing your team is going to succeed in some way does nothing but put a bullseye on your back.  For whatever reason, some players like making promises when microphones are in their face.  The latest “why would he say that?” moment in the sports world was brought to us by Louisville freshman Chane Behanan, who said that the Cardinals are not only the No. 1 team in the country but they are also going to go undefeated.  Check out this interview clip that The Dagger passed along:

For starters, Behanan might want to call upon some professionals like Mike Williams or Brandon Marshall to seek some advice about absurd guarantees. Then, he should cue up some footage of Big East basketball from the past few seasons so he knows what he’s in for when conference play begins.  Louisville is indeed undefeated (10-0) and looks like one of the better squads in the nation early on.  They have beaten some tough teams like Vanderbilt, Memphis, and Butler, but things get far more difficult when you’re playing Big East teams twice a week.

Having confidence is typically a positive thing, but Rick Pitino would be wise to pull his freshman aside and tell him to keep it to himself. The Big East is always the toughest conference in the nation physically, and teams don’t need any added motivation when they take the court against a team like Louisville.

H/T to Card Chronicle for the video
