Dayton’s Dyshawn Pierre wiped out hard during celebration (GIF)

Dyshawn-Prince-celebrationThe Dayton Flyers were understandably ecstatic on Thursday when they knocked off No. 6 seed Ohio State to advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. The victory took 40 minutes of hard-nosed basketball and hustle, and the celebration got a bit dangerous.

After Aaron Craft missed a runner and the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Flyers sprinted to mid-court to jump all over each other. A few of them collided pretty hard, and sophomore forward Dyshawn Pierre ended up smashing his hip on the floor. He was helped up by his teammates and appeared to be fine.

Dayton needs Pierre, who is averaging 11.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, if it wants to make a run. The last thing the Flyers need is one of those devastating celebration injuries we typically see from baseball players.
